JellyJelly, a new podcast app that integrates the JELLYJELLY meme coin on the Solana platform, is gaining strong traction thanks to its unique approach. In just two months since its launch, the app has attracted tens of thousands of users and opened up the potential for real-world applications for meme coins in the tech sector.
From a Simple Meme Coin to an Effective Marketing Strategy
Iqram Magdon-Ismail, co-founder of Venmo and the man behind JellyJelly, shared that the launch of the JELLYJELLY token in January created a breakthrough for the app, significantly increasing the number of subscribers. Although the token once reached a market capitalization of $250 million before falling to $6 million, Magdon-Ismail still believes that JELLYJELLY is a useful marketing tool.
“We had 10,000 signups in one day,” Magdon-Ismail said. He admitted that he had never thought of using meme coins as a promotional tool before, but after seeing the app explode, he realized its huge potential.
Sam Lessin, one of JellyJelly’s investors, agrees that meme coins work well as a tool to attract attention. He said that while many people initially join for speculative purposes, some of them may actually become interested in the product after digging deeper. Currently, JELLYJELLY has more than 34,275 holders, of which about 2,000-3,000 are active in community channels like Discord and Telegram.
Podcast App Shaped In A New Way
JellyJelly is described as a TikTok for podcasts, where users can record long podcast episodes and then edit them using AI to post them. While the app is not yet fully functional, the number of subscribers has increased dramatically thanks to its strategy of tying in with the JELLYJELLY token.
The development team is planning to integrate JELLYJELLY into the app in a variety of ways. The first step is to provide a token ownership verification system, allowing users to show how many tokens they hold and how long they have held them. Doing so will earn users a special badge on the platform.
In addition, an internal JellyJelly wallet is being built, which will function similarly to the Telegram wallet, allowing users to pay and tip on the podcast platform. The team also plans to use data related to JELLYJELLY—including token holdings and tipping transactions—to personalize the content shown to users through AI algorithms.
Future Directions
Magdon-Ismail emphasized that JellyJelly doesn’t need to be perfect the first time. Instead, the team will be experimenting with different ways to integrate tokens into the app over the next few months.
“We will continue to experiment to discover the best ways to use tokens to personalize content and improve the user experience,” he said.
While JELLYJELLY was originally created with entertainment and community in mind, the current direction of the project shows the true potential of combining blockchain, meme coins, and real-world applications. If the integration plans are successful, JellyJelly could become one of the most groundbreaking podcast apps of the future.
